Dr. Jeremy M. Thomas D.P.M was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. He grew up playing tennis, golf, soccer, and was a goalie in ice hockey. He went to undergraduate school at Western Carolina University where he got his degree in Sport Management with a concentration in "Exercise Science and Fitness Management". Dr. Thomas received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. From there he completed his residency at Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia where he was trained by the top foot and ankle surgeons known throughout the world. He is a member of the teaching and research faculty for The Podiatry Institute, an internationally recognized teaching foundation for reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Thomas is up on the most current podiatric literature, and has submitted two research studies in the past year for publication. In addition to his numerous publications in the foot and ankle literature he also spends time in other countries doing mission work. Last year he traveled to El-Salvador which allowed him to perform many reconstructive surgeries on children with clubfeet.
Dr. Thomas has plans on going to India or El Salvador in the near future. He continues to give back to the profession of podiatry teaching and lecturing all over the world. He recently taught a surgical course in Atlanta, GA and has been asked to teach future courses. He also has a chapter being published in the 2011 update book for foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Jeremy Thomas is also one of the co-authors in the last four editions of "The Podiatry Institute Annual Update" which is a comprehensive text on the most up-to-date treatments in the foot and ankle. He is also one of the co-authors of the "AO Internal Fixation Workbook". Dr. Thomas is also a contributing author of Mcglamry's Comprehensive Foot and Ankle Text.
Dr. Thomas has privileges at all WakeMed and Rex Healthcare systems, including the Rex Ambulatory Surgery Center. He takes full foot and ankle Emergency Room call at each of these hospitals. The office is well equipped to treat Urgent care needs and Dr. Thomas is available 24-7 for all foot and ankle emergencies.
